What is COLOR THE SOUND? Who is COLOR THE SOUND?

Think Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Incubus. Think Radiohead, The Police, A Perfect Circle. Music that defies stereotypes, evolves over time, and finds fans regardless of age or background. With elements of rock, electronic, acoustic, and pop, it is a vision, a vessel, more than any one anything.

COLOR THE SOUND began as a solo project of songwriter/producer Jesse Zenitram. The first release, Contrition : Vignettes, mixed by Rob Hoffman and mastered by Paul Gold, is a collection of visual themes in sound, developed through a love for the beautiful sadness that is the human experience.

“You've got some nice things going on! I really like your voice. Great timbre & vibe. I enjoyed feeling like I was listening to "music" instead of some of the regurgitated junk that's out right now. You've got some great arranging ideas and I like your sense of aesthetic.”

 - Bill Pearson (Grammy Award Winning Composer)

“I'd love to mix this for you... the music is very cool!!!!”

 - Rob Hoffman (Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Phil Collins)

COLOR THE SOUND is realized in the division between music, film, and light. The intent is to explore, to integrate. Jesse relocated to Sacramento, CA with this in mind, and began writing and performing with other artists. Inspired by the response to Contrition : Vignettes, Jesse silently began writing and producing the next album, which would inevitably become Loveless : Timeless. The first single, Satisfied, instantly attracted new fans, record labels, radio stations, and sponsors. Together, the drumbeat played by Alan White (Yes), the synth bassline, sly guitars, and suggestive vocals created a song that is so suggestive, and so deliberate, it is hard to forget. While playing guitar and producing for a local rock band, Jesse met Zack Kampf, a session drummer and instructor. After showing Zack the early mixes of Loveless : Timeless, the two began drafting ways, to emphatically convey the circumstances behind the songs. Enter, today.

"When I write a song, I'm writing a screenplay. Images inspire every word. Emotion becomes timbre. Intensity dictates rhythm. The drums are the stage, instruments are the set, and the vocals are the actors. I am outside myself. When you play the silence, music surrounds you.

-Jesse Zenitram

After finding themselves in the company of the top unsigned Sacramento bands, and simultaneously nominated as Sacramento's Best Progressive Band & Outstanding Pop Band within a matter of months, and subsequently winning the award for Best Progressive Band, the future became clear :  tour to share a unique experience.

COLOR THE SOUND will always be COLOR THE SOUND, but what it is may not always be what it was. COLOR THE SOUND will always sound like COLOR THE SOUND, but what it sounds like may not always sound like what it sounded like. If any one thing resonates, stay together. All will be revealed.

Open your ears : heart will follow.
